Canon PowerShot SX20 IS Review



The new camera from Canon, the Canon PowerShot SX20IS, was released in August of 2009 and features a mega-zoom. This camera succeeds the SX10IS model, which had remarkably successful sales and remained atop the bestselling camera list for a long time.


The Canon PowerShot SX20IS now features the ability to record 720p, high definition videos in addition to still images. The Canon PowerShot SX20IS also includes a 28-50mm lens that has a 20x, wide-angle optical zoom ability. This zoom feature can also be utilized during video recording. The image sensor is 12.1 megapixels, and uses the DIGIC 4 processor which most recent Canon cameras use, creating beautiful images.


The rear of the camera has an LCD display that measures 2.5 inches, and which rotates to many angles. You'll also find a dedicated video button, so you can instantly record movies without fiddling with many controls.


As a follow-up to the popular SX10IS, this Canon PowerShot SX20IS is a success. It adds valuable features to an already solid camera which was already replete with great features, like the ergonomic interface. Given the price of the camera, the quality of the images that ti captures is also breathtaking. Certain images even surpassed the abilities of DSLR cameras in a much higher price bracket.


The Canon PowerShot SX20IS might look a little chunky at first, the the camera fits into your hand very comfortably. The grip is solid, and the camera feels quite durable. The appearance of the Canon PowerShot SX20IS indicates another landmark from Canon, who clearly intends to remain atop the mega-zoom category for the forseeable future.
